Mr. Md. Ruhul Amin
  • Designation:Managing Director, PGCB
  • Description: Md. Ruhul Amin, Son of Lt. A.S.M. Abdul Mazid of District Rajshahi completed his graduation degree in Electrical Engineering in the year 1969. He joined EPWAPDA in the year in 1970 as Asstt. Engineer. During his tenure in EPWAPDA / BPDB, he served in the field of Distribution, Communication, Power System Control & Operation etc. He joined in PGCB in the year 2003 and served in Transmission, System Operation, Planning & Design. At present, he is holding the post of Managing Director, PGCB.

Engr. MD. RUHUL AMIN
  • Designation : Director (Planning & Development)
  • Description : Mr.Ruhul Amin, a renowned Transmission Line Construction specialist, was born on January 15, 1949. He Joined as junior engr,in line construction, in the then EPWAPDA(Power)and after having completed his graduation in Civil Engineering, joined as Assistant engr. in Transmission Projects, under Power Development Board (BPDB) in 1974. He is a Fellow-member of the Institute of Engineers of Bangladesh (IEB). Mr. Ruhul Amin has established himself as a dynamic and proactive Power Grid Construction leader, holding various positions namely Executive Engineer, Deputy General Manager(DGM) of BPDB and PGCB, before joining as the General Manager(Projects),in 2004. He has received various training at home and abroad. Mr. Ruhul Amin was Associated with the construction of 80% of the Transmission Line and Sub-Stations, built in the country and has become a Legend in Transmission Line Construction, having 40(forty) Years of continuous service experience which is an unique example. Mr. Ruhul Amin was conferred merit award by BPDB in 1985 for his meritorious work in building first grid line on poles. He received nos. of certificates of appreciation from PDB,GOB and Donor Agencies, for his innovative ideas, sincerity ,dedication and great contribution towards expansion of grid system. Mr. Ruhul Amin was awarded “Best Project Director Award” for outstanding Performance in Project Implementation by Asian Development Bank(ADB)in 2002. He is the only recipient of such Award in Power Sector until now. Mr. Ruhul Amin was made a resource person of National Academy For Planning Development (APD) in 2005, by Ministry of Planning, GOB.

Engr. Md. Rafiqul Alam

  • Description : Engr. Md. Rafiqul Alam, a renowned Electrical Engineer, was born in a respectable Muslim family on 24 September, 1949. He completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering with first class from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in 1972. He is a Fellow-member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). Engr. Md. Rafiqul Alam has established himself as a dynamic Power System Development Engineer holding various positions namely Asstt. Engineer, Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). He has joined Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd., on August, 2002 in the position of Deputy General Manager, Grid Circle (Chittagong) . He was promoted to General Manager on 2005. Currently he is holding the post of General Manager (Planning and Development) He attended a wide range of training program at home and abroad namely Protective relay Training, Professional training on Energy metering, Project formulation etc. He has visited USA, Canada, India and Nepal under expert exchange program financed by USAID. He also witnessed Factory Acceptance Test of Electrical Equipment at France, Turkey, China, India.

Md. Showkat Hossain
  • Designation : Director (Finance)
  • Description : Md. Showkat Hossain has joined Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited in June 2008 as Director (Finance). Born in 1953, Md. Showkat Hossain graduated in Commerce from the Government College of Commerce, Chittagong. He is a senior Chartered Accountant of the country qualified in 1979 from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB). He did his article from M/S Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co., Chartered Accountants, a successor of M/S A. F. Ferguson & Co., Chartered Accountants, UK in Bangladesh, now Correspondent firm to Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. After qualified as Chartered Accountant and a brief stay with Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co. he joined Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) as Deputy Chief Auditor assigned to develop the newly formed Audit Division of the Corporation in August 1979. He was General Manager (Accounts & Finance) of the Corporation when he left the oil sector in late1999. During this period, he worked with Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL) and Jamuna Oil Company Limited (JOCL) as Head of Accounts & Finance Division and Company Secretary. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of JOCL from 1996 to 1999 representing BPC nominated by the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. In between, from 1981 to 1988, he worked for NCR Corporation, USA, a world renowned manufacturer of Computer in its Middle East and Africa Regional Head office in Bahrain, Cyprus and Kuwait. Before joining Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited he worked as Director (Finance) of Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) from September 2000 to April 2004 and Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) as Member from 2004 to 2007. He attended a wide range of training program and workshops at home and USA, South Africa, India, Sri lanka and Nepal on Pricing and Tariffs Issues, Energy Sector Restructuring and Private Sector Participation and Stakeholders Role in Successful Regulation in the Reform of the Energy Sector. He is considered as one of the financial expert in the energy sector. At present, in addition he is discharging the responsibility of Independent Director in the Board of Padma Oil Company Limited (POCL) from January 2008.

Md. Wahedur Rahman

  • Description : Md. Wahedur Rahman, Son of Mr. Mahabubar Rahman was born on 17th November’ 1949. He completed his B.Sc in Electrical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in 1971. In his long professional experience, Mr. Wahedur Rahman first joined in BPDB as an Assistant Engineer in January’ 1974. He served BPDB as an Assistant Engineer, Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer. At present he has been working as a General Manager(Transmission) of PGCB, Dhaka.

  • Md. Wahedur Rahman was awarded “University Blue” in 1969 for sports & games. He was also conferred merit award by BPDB in 1999 for his meritorious.

  • He attended a wide range of training program at home and abroad. He completed professional training on “Induction Training” at Kaptai academy management training at BIM & Training on Relay and Protective system by GEC. He attended training programmes on “Power Distribution” in UK, manufacturing process of Power Transformer in BHEL, India. He also successfully completed Inspection work of various High Voltage equipment in Germany, China, Sweeden., Rumania, Japan & India. He is a Member of Central Council, IEB, Dhaka.

Engr. Md. Mozammel Hossain

  • Description : Engr. Md. Mozammel Hossain, a renowned Electrical Engineer, was born in a respectable Muslim family on February 19, 1952 at Kushtia. He completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering from Rajshahi Engineering College in 1974. He has also done a post graduate Diploma on participatory Research Technique from SWANSEA University, UK in 1985. He is a Fellow-member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). Engr. Md. Mozammel Hossain has established himself as a dynamic and proactive Power System Development Engineer holding various positions namely Asstt. Engineer, Sub-Divisional Engineer, Executive Engineer, Director of Design Directorate of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). He has joined Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd., on May 21, 2001 in the position of Deputy General Manager and lead a number of Transmission Projects. Engr. Md. Mr. P. K. Roy

  • Description : Mr. P. K. Roy was born in Netrokona on 1st January, 1952. He completed his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering in 1974 and started his career in Bangladesh Power Dev. Board (BPDB) on January, 1976 as Asstt. Engineer. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). He was Superintending Engineer in BPDB when he opted to join PGCB. Presently, he has been working as General Manager, Transmission-2 in PGCB. He received a number of trainings on different subjects of engineering inside the country and in England, Sri Lanka, Bhutan. He worked in Dubai Electricity & Water Authority for 5 years in Transmission Project as Project Engineer and completed a number of transmission projects which includes a 400kV substation, 132kV substations & transmission lines. In PGCB, he has worked as Project Director and completed a number of projects including 230/132kV substation & transmission lines. He visited a number of countries for the purpose of inspection of wide range of electrical equipment in the transmission sector.

Md. Sadequl Islam

  • Description : Engr. Md. Sadequl Islam was born in a respectable Muslim family in Chapai Nawabgang District in 1951. He completed B.Sc. Engineering Degree from Rajshahi Engineering College in 1974 (January). He started his service on 13 October, 1974 at Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory, Joydebpur, Dhaka, under Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation. Later on he joined the service of Bangladesh Power Development Board and worked until 14 September, 1991. He promoted to the post of Deputy General Manager on 12 April, 2003 and General Manager on 26 October, 2008 in Power Grid Company. He visited different countries namely Switzerland, Canada, Germany, France, and Korea etc for training and Inspection. He is a LIFE FELLOW of the institution of Engineers Bangladesh.

Md. Nazim Uddin

  • Description : Engr. Md. Nazim Uddin, a Professional Electrical Engineer, was born in a respectable Muslim family on July 28, 1952 at Ishurdi, Pabna. He completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering from Rajshahi Engineering College in 1974 and started his carrier as Asst.Engineer, Grid Maintenance Division, Khulna in the year 1976 in BPDB. He was posted as DGM,System Protection & Metering Circle and DGM,Design Circle, PGCB before his present posting. He is a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB). He has made Power System Protection Training in the then Brown, Bovery & Company, Ltd. (BBC),Switzerland in the year 1981 and Analysis & Protection of power System Course (APPS) in ALSTOM, Stafford, England in the year 2000. He has built his carrier as a power System Protection Engineer. Engr. Md. Nazim Uddin has joined Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd., on September 15, 2001 in the position of Manager,Grid Maintenance Division, Dhaka South. He attended a wide range of training/workshop program at home and abroad. Such as “Utility Partnership Exchange Visit”, with Bonnevile Power Administration (BPA) in USA. And “South Asia Regional Energy Transmission Partnership Executive Exchange” under SARI/E program in New Delhi & Mumbai, India. He worked in SCECO (South Region) Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Oman National Electric Company (ONEC) as District Chief Distribution Engineer and Electrical Maintenance Engineer in the year 1985/86 and 1994/95 respectively. He visited a number of countries for the purpose of inspection and Factory Acceptance Test of wide range of electrical equipment in the transmission sector, namely :India,Germany,Korea, Poland, China, Japan, and France.

Md. Helal Uddin

  • Description : Mr. Md. Helal Uddin, born in the village Parepur of Bhola District (the then Barisal), has been serving Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited since October 15, 2003. Mr. Uddin, a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), completed his post-graduation in Accounting with first class from Dhaka University and Chartered accountancy from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB). Before joining PGCB, he served as (a) Assistant Professor, Dhaka City College, Dhaka; (b) Partner, Aziz Halim Anowar Khair, Chartered Accountants; (c) Head of Finance, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Dhaka and (d) Partner, A Wahab & Co., Chartered Accountants. He attended training program and workshops at home and abroad (USA & Malayasia). An academician Mr. Uddin authored four books on Accounting, Auditing and Taxation. He was also engaged in delivering lecture to different institutes such as Lalmatia Mohila College, Adamjee Cantonment College, American International University of Bangladesh, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh.

Md. Ashraf Hossain

  • Description : Mr. Md. Ashraf Hossain has been serving the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd. as Company Secretary since 12 August 2008. He has born in a moderate muslim family in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has achieved his BSS (Honours) & MSS in Public Administration from University of Dhaka and Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management from Bangladesh Management Development Center, Dhaka. He also achieved Banking Diploma , part one, from BIBM, Dhaka. He participated in a research program on Problem of Program Implementation in Thana Administration. He participated in different trainings like, Management Programe Finance for Non-Finance Executives, Corporate Human Resource Management etc. Mr. Hossain served Pubali Bank, a state own commercial bank, as Senior Official from May 1983 to December 1985. In end 1985 he joined in Co-operatives Jute Mills Ltd, a composite jute mills, as Company Secretary and served up to November 1992. He served in R.M Group of Industries in various capacities like Manager (Marketing & Administration), Senior Manger (Projects & Foreign Purchase) and Assistant General Manager, i.e., head of corporate office from November 1992 to August 2008. He was involve in negotiating industrial project purchase, making contract and implementation there off. For business purpose he visited India, Korea, China, Turkey, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong etc. He used to write articles on commercial & industrial events & fiscal policy matters in national reputed dailies. He is blessed by one son and two daughters.
